2025 CAF CONFERENCE-- Inspiring Excellence: Elevating to New Heights

Please join us for the annual members-only CAF Conference, February 27 - March 1, 2025 at the CAF National Airbase in Dallas, TX. The conference is aimed at CAF members with any level of experience, whether you have recently joined or are a long-time Unit leader; there's no better way to get to know the CAF! To attend this conference, you must be an active CAF Colonel or Cadet.

The registration fee includes all sessions, all conference lunches, a ticket to the CAF Hall of Fame Banquet, and shuttle service to and from CAF National Airbase and the Hilton Garden Inn/Hampton Inn, Duncanville, TX. Note: Shuttle service will only run between the Hilton Garden Inn/Hampton Inn and the CAF.

If you are unable to attend the conference sessions, but would like to attend the CAF Hall of Fame dinner or if have a guest who will be attending the meals only, tickets for those individuals events are also available on the registration form below. HOTEL INFORMATION
The conference hotel is the Hilton Garden Inn, 800 N. Main St., Duncanville, TX. The group rate is $139 per night plus 13% tax. The rate includes breakfast vouchers for up to two people per room. The hotel features a restaurant and bar on site, complimentary wireless internet in guestrooms, and complimentary self-parking.
2/7/25 Update: THE CAF Room Block rate expired on 2/6/25 and the Hilton Garden Inn is sold out for rooms during the conference period.

Commemorative Air Force Museum & Archive Open House

Learn how to effectively care for, display, and interpret your artifact collection with examples from the exhibits located in the NAEC. In addition, learn the background of the CAF Nose Art Collection and the journey it has taken to the current exhibition.

Project Cub: A Hands-On Intern Project
Presented by Melissa Rogers
The CAF acquired a 1946 J-3 Piper Cub aircraft in need of restoration. CAF/NAEC staff, volunteers, and aviation experts have been overseeing high school interns who are driving the restoration process. Seven interns are currently working on the project under the supervision of a restoration project coordinator and their classroom aviation instructor. Hear from the project coordinator and the interns themselves about the project and the experience.

Aviation Discovery Zone Expo

Experience firsthand activities the National Aviation Education Center offers kids of all ages. The highlighted activities are a proven hit during Camp SOAR, A is for Aerospace, and airshows. We host thousands of kids through a variety of programs where the central theme is hands-on activities focused on aviation and career related experiences. During this session we have selected the best of the best for you to see and do! We want to provide you with a make-and take experience and send you back to your local unit with new activity ideas that will engage kids in learning about aviation. CAF Pilot Scholarship
Presented by Nathan Huegen
The CAF Pilot Scholarship provides up to $12,000 for CAF Cadets to earn their Private Pilot’s License. Cadets apply for the scholarship with a CAF mentor from their unit and are free to work with any reputable flight school or instructor in their area. Each recipient must provide reports on significant milestones from their training on their way to a successful check ride. FINANCE
Finance Officer’s Role/Responsibility
Presented by Lance Linguist and April Robinson
This session will provide a better understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Unit Finance Officer. Other topics covered: Legal Structure; ASAP; Insurance; Sales Tax; Military Billing; Forms; Budgets.

Finance – Chart of Accounts
Presented by April Robinson
This class will provide a better understanding of the Chart of Accounts that each Unit must use and what goes under each account description and why. Describes why the same chart is used for each Unit.

Quickbooks Online – Part I
Presented by April Robinson and Steve Fryman (Indiana Wing Finance Officer)
This class provides the Finance Officer with the basics of QuickBooks Online (QBO)/Bookkeeping. Discuss the Chart of Accounts, Account Settings, and how to present financial information to your Unit (Classes/Locations and Tag replacement). (Bringing your laptop for hands-on experience would be helpful.)

Quickbooks Online - Part II and Square for Donations
Presented by April Robinson and Steve Fryman (Indiana Wing Finance Officer)
This class will show the Finance Officer how to set up and connect Bank Accounts in QBO; how to understand Expenses and Deposits along with doing bank reconciliation and seeing the report. Also, the creation of donation websites in Square. (Bringing your laptop for hands-on experience would be helpful.)

Quickbooks Online – Part III
Presented by April Robinson and Steve Fryman (Indiana Wing Finance Officer)
This class will show the Finance Officer how to pull invoices and transaction receipts into QuickBooks (QBO) automatically, then apply the GL accounts to use; setting up QBO Banking Rules – aka Accounting Import magic; Bank Receipts – importing transaction invoices and receipts manually and automatically (includes emailing invoices into QBO). (Bringing your laptop for hands-on experience would be helpful.)

Calculating Cost per Flying Hour
Presented by Lance Linguist
This class will discuss the variable; semi-variable; semi-fixed and fixed costs of operating an aircraft; and a methodology for calculating a cost per flying hour, as well as the long-term financial considerations that are often overlooked.

New Topic/Roundtable
Presented and Moderated by Lance Linguist
This class will focus on some of the new efforts and activities by the CAF, including Hull Insurance; Unit Health Monitor; CAF Strategic Priorities; aircraft parts held at HQ. This class will also allow questions from the Finance Officers and allow other Finance Officers to present their ‘best practices’.

CAF Conference or Hall of Fame registration canceled on or before February 16, 2025 is refundable. Registrants canceling on or after February 17, 2025 will not receive a refund. Registration fees may be transferred to another individual.
