P-40 Warhark has Mechanical Failure On Landing
March, 22, 2018, Conroe, TX - On Saturday, March 16, 2019, the CAF’s P-40 Warhawk experienced a mechanical failure in the left main landing gear system, causing the left gear to collapse on landing. The incident occurred at Conroe Regional Airport. Thankfully, there were no injuries to the pilot or others. The aircraft did suffer damage to the prop, wingtip, wing skin, left aileron, left flap, and possibly to the engine as well. The aircraft was moved to a CAF member's hangar on the airfield and volunteers have already removed the engine for inspection and assessing the other damage. The pressure is on to have the aircraft back in the air soon, in order to make some of the upcoming events planned for the aircraft. The Sponsor Group plans to keep supporters updated on the progress on the group’s official Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/CAFP40.
