CAF UK Wing Unveils P-51 Replica at 1940s Weekend
Bottisham, England - (June 21, 2022) The UK Wing unveiled a fabulous P-51 Mustang replica restored in the colors of Col. Thomas Jonathan Jackson “Jack" Christian Jr., the commanding officer of the 361st Fighter Group at Bottisham. Christian was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with oak leaf cluster, Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters, and the Purple Heart for his service in World War II. Christian was killed in action on August 12, 1944 when flying from Bottisham.
The CAF UK Wing recruiting stand was present at the World War II event, many World War II reenactors, historians, collectors, and members of the public were present to see the Mustang unveiled. During the event, P-51 Mustangs and Spitfires from nearby Duxford flew over the event adding to the experience.
