Association of Professional Warbird Operators to Present at EAA AirVenture 2023
(July 14, 2023, Lakeland, Fla.)- The Association of Professional Warbird Operators (APWO) will host a forum at this year’s EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. President/CEO John “Lites” Leenhouts, along with COO Greg Gibson, will make a short presentation to review the mission and status of this Warbirds advocacy group, then take questions and input from the audience to get their ideas and opinions on the issues facing Warbirds today. They’ll also discuss the committees they are creating to drill down into specific areas of need, including maintenance, training, CRM/SMS, and specialty focus groups to address Fighters, Trainers, Bomber/Cargo, and Liaison aircraft concerns.
The entire board of the APWO will be on hand to support the presentation, including co-Chairman Hank Coates, CAF CEO, co-Chairman Greg Hiser, Assured Partners Insurance, Treasurer Bob Stenevik, former CAF CEO and noted FAA policy and regulations expert, Secretary Sean Elliott, EAA VP of Advocacy and Safety, and Rick Siegfried, EAA Warbirds of America Board Member.
Their focus is to support ALL Warbird organizations, owners, and operators by promoting professionalism that results in education, standardization, and safety methodologies to reduce risk and help avoid unnecessary and irresponsibly formed regulations. They want to source and consolidate the collective knowledge and experience of the Warbird community into a single voice that supports and benefits any individual or organization that operates or manages these historic treasures. They have an active and ongoing dialogue with the FAA and NTSB, taking issues and concerns from the Warbird community for discussion and consideration while acting as a funnel to review and act on pending legislation and proposed policy changes.
