World War II Heritage Day Costume Contest
PEACHTREE CITY, GA (Aug. 30, 2022) – Attendees at the 18th annual World War II Heritage Day on Oct. 8 may feel like they have stepped back in time, surrounded by guests who will show off their best 1940s looks. It is all part of a costume contest for those who best represent the time period of World War II or aviation during the build-up to the Space Age. Prizes will be awarded to the top three participants in adult (18 and up) and children’s categories. Contestants must register on-site prior to the contest, and entries will be limited to 12 in each category. Contest judging will begin around 1:30 p.m. Costumes should match one of the following themes and be appropriate for a family-friendly event: 1940s, WWII/Military, Aviation, or Early Space Exploration.
World War II Heritage Day, at CAF Airbase Georgia, 1200 Echo Ct., adjacent to Atlanta Regional Airport – Falcon Field, Peachtree City, Ga., will offer visitors an opportunity to explore the important historical transition from WWII era to the dawn of the space age. Visitors will enjoy a vintage car show, warbird rides, demonstrations, WWII reenactors, a day of interesting speakers, food vendors and a 1940s victory dance.
The daytime activities run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by a celebration swing dance in the hangar, with music until 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 11-17.
