2022 WWII Heritage Days Recap
Reading, PA (June 10, 2022)- The Mid-Atlantic Air Museum's annual WWII Weekend is always an impressive array of aircraft and reenactors. The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) was well represented this year with several aircraft and members contributing time and talents to perform the CAF mission - Educate, Inspire, and Honor. CAF Airbase Georgia brought the Corsair, P-51 Red Nose, SBD Dauntless, and Kingcobra. The CAF AirPower History Tour brought the B-29 FIFI and B-24 Diamond Lil.
In a thank you letter to CAF Airbase Georgia from one of their SBD Dauntless riders in Reading, PA states ... *"Dear Heather, thank you for giving me the opportunity to get up & personal with my father's plane. To say it was the best moment of the day is an understatement! Please let Wes know how much I appreciated his demonstration & explanation of the Douglas Dauntless gunners responsibility. You both showed compassion to a daughter on a mission to honor her dad, Sergeant Jack E. Shuttlesworth, USMC WWII. I know he was watching!"
