Getting Ready For 2019 Airshow Season
March 22, 2019- Several CAF aircraft are stretching their wings ready to take airshow season on. Some even got a new look, check out some recent restoration updates and photos. P-63 Kingcobra (Houston, TX)
The CAF’s P-63F got a new paint scheme in its old livery. The P-63 Sponsor Group decided to repaint the aircraft in the original livery, just as it came out of the factory in 1944. This aircraft is maintained and flown by a handful of volunteers who are committed to keeping this late-model Kingcobra flying.
C-53 Skytrooper D-Day Doll (Riverside, CA)
The countdown is on, as the C-53 D-Day Doll is in final preparations for going to Normandy. This includes a new paint job to ensure the aircraft is in the best shape to cross the North Atlantic and is a first class representative of the CAF abroad.
B-29 Superfortress FIFI (Fort Worth, TX)
The queen of the fleet, FIFI, got in on the paint action over the winter, getting a shiny new paint job. Although the paint is new, there are several nods to the aircraft’s rich history.
